Universal 1 Credit Union (U1) is planning upcoming renovations to two regional locations.
The 23,300-square-foot Dayton office, located at 1 River Park Drive, currently includes a member service center and the corporate office. The office opened in 1982 and although it has changed some over the years, Universal 1 President and CEO Jessica Jones said there is a need to completely reconfigure the building.
The most notable change will be the relocation of the ATM to another area of the parking lot, to enable better traffic flow and closer handicap parking for members. Inside the office, the remodel will create a more open layout with its lobby paying homage to the credit union’s history.
The 24,600-square-foot Beavercreek office, at 2450 Esquire Drive, was opened in 1998. Jones said the renovation will concentrate on better use of the space and create an overall Operations Service Center.
The operations and lending teams will be in one building to create synergies and collaboration, resulting in a better member experience. There will also be more collaborative spaces and updated training facilities.
“With consumer expectations evolving rapidly, Universal 1 (U1) Credit Union must keep pace with these changes to remain competitive,” Jones said. “Remodeling offers a tangible way to meet these demands, allowing U1 to offer modern, efficient, and engaging services to members.”
Construction on the locations is estimated to begin in Q1 2025. The Redmond Company will be managing this project for U1. The bid and procurement process is currently scheduled for quarter four.
Universal 1 reported a 2023 revenue of $25.4 million – 22% growth from 2022. The credit union employs 81 local workers.
In late 2023, Universal 1 added seven counties to its membership eligibility. In 2024 and 2025, Jones said the credit union is focused on its new counties and adding additional product and service offerings for business members.
Headquartered in Dayton, Universal 1 has over 50,000 members and nine locations throughout southwest Ohio.
